We left Mississippi just after 7 this morning. It was a very long drive and two separate traffic delays; one right an hour south of Memphis and one somewhere near Nashville. So as a result, I am tired and silly and everything seems hilarious to me...maybe I should sit for two hours in traffic and then drive for 10 everyday!
We did stop at a rest stop on I-40(aka Music Highway) that was funny to me (I was not silly until then). We had seen so many Loretta Lynn signs-Loretta Lynn homestead, Loretta Lynn Kitchen, so the Loretta Lynn and Hank Williams rest stop was the last straw. By then we were hysterical every time we saw her name on things...
We stopped at the Loveless Cafe in Nashville for lunch before noon. It was an hour wait so Debbie took pictures of the inside walls covered in framed famous people that have eaten there since it opened in the 50's. They even have the original door but it opens into a wall now since they changed the entry way. There is an outside porch to wait on, an inside area and the area near the desk. All jammed with people waiting.
Anyway our waitress was very good, and noticed that Debbie loved the biscuits they are famous for. On the way to the restrooms there is a big window where you can watch them hand make the biscuits...which is a weird place for that I thought! As we were leaving Debbie had two containers. When we got back into the car, she put them down in the back and off we went. She was really happy. I asked her what was going on and she was just thrilled that the waitress offered to give her a bunch of biscuits and homemade preserves to take...we were both silly the rest of the very long ride to get to Louisville. Speed limit of 70 most of the way. I truly tried to go that speed but literally I was all alone so I went 80 at least, not over 90 though as trucks were passing me on the left and right and it was making me very nervous as many of them were double trailers...going faster than 90.
At some point in Kentucky, the time changed back to Eastern Standard time. Odd to me that it is not the whole state!
This hotel is on the edge of an office park that has no lights or illuminated signs so it was another deal of driving up to a sign and trying to see the name of the street. The front desk person asked me if I wanted suggestions of where to drive for dinner...I just said no thanks I am done driving today.
